Photos from my exploration of the globe
48 US States, 25 countries, 5 continents
Below are a few of my favorite recent trips, excellent for travel photography as well as for the unforgettable experiences
Pacific Northwest US - Olympic NP
Situated on the Olympic Peninsula in the far northwest of the United States, Olympic National Park features a stunning variety of scenery. Temperate rainforests, sea stacks, and alpine wilderness all vie for your attention and time.
The Wave - Coyote Buttes North
Feeling lucky? Try your hand at the permit lottery for one of the 10 daily permits to Coyote Buttes North, aka 'The Wave.' This unbelievable hike on the Arizona/Utah border will bring you to one of the most unique geologic features in the world. Metamorphic heat and pressure bent the local sandstone into a swirled mess. Time, wind, and water revealed these features in stunning beauty.
The Narrows - Zion National Park
Zion National Park's most famous feature, The Narrows, is a gigantic slot canyon that follows the winding course of the Virgin River. Trekking this hike requires you enter the river itself and hike 90% of the time in water than can vary from ankle deep to chest deep. The reward is beautiful cascades beneath towering sandstone canyon walls. A truly unforgettable experience.
Death Valley National Park
Otherworldly and austere, traveling through Death Valley National Park can at times feel like exploring a freshly terraformed Mars. Wide open landscapes, salt flats and soaring mountain ranges come together to create an amazing array of geology with many beautiful photography opportunities
Teton Range - Jackson, WY
The Teton Range provides a stunning backdrop for Grand Teton National Park and the Jackson Hole area. Often overshadowed by Yellowstone National Park to the north, Grand Teton National park has long been a favorite of mine.
Arches & Canyonlands National Parks - Moab
Moab, UT sits between two iconic national parks, Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. Scenic vistas abound here both in variety and quality.
